Milestones Reminders:
It is critical that students arrive to school on time each morning. Students who arrive after 7:40 a.m. may miss their testing session. Make sure your child has a good night of sleep and a healthy breakfast each morning of testing. Please note that cell phones and smart watches are not allowed in the testing environment. We strongly encourage all students to keep their personal communication devices at home on testing days. If brought to school, teachers will require students to power off and store all electronic devices during the assessment. Please be sure your student is aware. |

Math 5 & Enhanced, Social Studies, & Science
Math:
This week students finished the iReady Math Diagonostic Assessment. Also, we continued to review quadrilaterals and went deeper into explaining their relationships. Next week, students will explore the coordinate plane and learn how to read, and graph ordered pairs in a single quadrant. There will be a few assessments next week over this standard, so please see the schedule section for dates.
Science/Social Studies-
This week we wrapped up inherited traits inherited and acquired traits and learned and instinctive behaviors. Then, we started the Civil Rights Movement. Students have learned about important events and people during the 1960-1975. We will continue to review these concepts and learn more about the voting rights, citizenship, and specific amendments relative to this time. There are several assessments next week, so please see the schedule in the top section. Students were given study guides yesterday, so they can study at their own pace to prepare.

Homeroom:
- Spring fever is starting to tick up with our fifth graders. Please remind your student of respectful, responsible, and ready to learn behaviors in the classroom, hallways, recess, and especially in the restrooms. Our bus rider's dismissal is another area for improvement to ensure safety for all students. Students are starting to run and push which could cause injuries. We are definitely reviewing with them at school, but your conversations at home help to support us.
